Ashwagandha in Sanskrit  is for “smell of the horse”, which refers to both its unique smell and ability to increase strength.

Ashwagandha is one of the most important and revered herbs in Ayurveda. It is known as “Sattvic Kapha Rasayana” Herb (Changhadi, 1938). In Ayurvedic medicine, ashwagandha is considered a Rasayana, which means it’s a herb that may help maintain youth, both mentally and physically.
It is generally considered a safe supplement for most of the people. These types of remedies are given to small children as tonics, and are also taken by the middle-aged and elderly to increase longevity.

Active principles of Ashwagandha are sitoindosides VII-X and Withaferin-A. Additionally, it has dietary fibre, carbohydrate, protein, Iron, Vit C, Calcium and Carotene.
